FOOTBALL: Deadly Almond hammers treble

Shayne Almond hammered a hat-trick as Division 1 side Oakley United knocked Oxfordshire Senior League Premier Division hosts Adderbury Park out of the President’s Cup with a 7-0 third-round thrashing.

Chris Davies (penalty), Jason Costello, Nick Gurney and James Keeble put the visitors 4-0 up, before Almond’s second-half treble completed the rout.

Mark Scanes and Andrew Gledhill helped themselves to doubles in Launton Sports’ 4-0 victory at Yarnton in the second round of the Ben Turner Cup.

Hat-tricks from Matty Holton and Ben Foster capped resurgent Bletchingdon’s 8-0 home thrashing of Oxford Irish in the Premier Division.

Andy White and Lewis Morr-ison were their other scorers.

A Nick Lacey penalty save from Piers McGlynn ensured a clean sheet. In-form Bletchingdon have now gleaned 16 points from their last seven matches.

Jamie Perkin hit a last-gasp penalty equaliser as Freeland drew 1-1 at home to Oxford University Press.

Marlon James had put the visitors ahead, but Perkin levelled four minutes into injury time after Lewis White was brought down.

Former Oxford United winger Joey Beauchamp hit a double for Bletchingdon Res in a 3-0 win at OUP Res in Division 2.

Ian Roberts was their other marksman.
