Fitzharrys School (Abingdon) lifted the Oxfordshire Under 16 Cup with a 2-1 win over King Alfred’s Academy (Wantage) in the final at the Oxford United Academy.
William Wright coolly slotted home Eddie Cavanagh’s cross following a superb move involving Kyle Kerby and Keenan Moses to give Fitzharrys a first-half lead.
Fitzharrys doubled their advantage after the break when Callum Stewart was tripped in the penalty area, and captain Robbie Cundy stroked home the spot-kick.
An own goal gave King Alfred’s a lifeline, but Fitzharrys held on without any alarms to secure victory.
KING Alfred’s suffered a heartbreaking 4-1 penalty shoot-out defeat in the ESFA Under 13 Schools’ Cup seventh round at Devenport High School (Plymouth).
The last-16 tie had finished 1-1 after extra time.
CHERWELL (Oxford) take on Didcot in the Oxfordshire Under 16 Girls’ Cup final at the Oxford United Academy tomorrow (2pm).
