RUGBY UNION: Welsh aiming to keep it simple

London Welsh head coach Lyn Jones said his side had gone back to basics to prepare for tomorrow’s trip to Saracens.

Jones is determined the Exiles put last week’s 47-16 defeat at Exeter behind them as they seek to stay ahead of basement boys Sale Sharks.

Asked what his message had been to the players in training this week, Jones replied: “Go forward.

“We went to Exeter with a game plan and unfortunately the boys failed to implement it.

“We are going back to basics and just trying to keep it simple.”

Sarries’ new ground in Barnet has an artificial pitch, which has only been in action for a month.

Welsh trained there on Tuesday and practised on a similar surface at Maidenhead RFC on Thursday.

Jones does not expect a big tactical change to adapt to this.”

Welsh were unlucky to lose against 28-23 Saracens at the Kassam Stadium in October when the referee incorrectly ended the game while they had an attacking scrum.
