ANGLING: Shy fish refusing to bite!

Match fishing

A TOTAL of just 12 fish were caught by the 12 anglers who braved the bitter east wind to compete in North Oxford’s latest club match, which yet again had to be switched from the Cherwell to the Oxford Canal at Wolvercote.

Andy Crisp headed the field with a single gudgeon and a 10oz perch for a total weight of 0lbs 10.8oz.

Mick Abbott had two small skimmers and a roach to finish runner-up with 0.5.0 on bread, followed by Dave Pether with three small roach on pinkie for 0.2.0.

A 3.10.0 bream caught on waggler and worm by Anthony Alder was enough to win Tackley Estates AC’s match fished by five on the canal at the Rock of Gibralter.
