TENNIS: Connor stars in national finals

Connor Ferguson produced an impressive performance to finish fifth in the country at the Winter Nationals.
The youngster, who trains at Abingdon’s White Horse Leisure & Tennis Centre, battled it out with the other top 15 players in the country in the Under 10 Grade 1 event at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton.
And despite being one of the youngest – only three players will be able to continue playing in the same age group this summer – Ferguson defied the odds, before being beaten by the eventual winner in the quarter-finals.
To qualify for the event, players had to perform well in a number of events during the course of the season.
