FOOTBALL: Foster's double can't rescue Bletchingdon
11:00am Thursday 28th February 2013 in Sport
Bletchingdon’s Owen Bunce wins a challenge with Gary Crook during their 3-2 home defeat by Adderbury Park in the Premier Division on Saturday
Bletchingdon fought back from 2-0 down at home to Adderbury Park, only to suffer heartbreak as they went down to a 3-2 defeat in Saturday’s Oxfordshire Senior League Premier Division encounter.
The result saw Bletchingdon slip to ninth in the table, just four points from basement boys Charlton United.
Strikes from Mark Essex and Liam Garrett appeared to put the visitors in control, only for Ben Foster’s double to level matters.
But their hopes were dashed when Essex lashed home his second goal from long range to win it for Adderbury five minutes from time.
Oakley United stayed at the top of Division 1 with a 3-1 win at Yarnton.
Martin Kynsey put Oakley ahead before their keeper, Matt Pay preserved their lead by making a wonderful save from John Webb’s header.
Oakley took full advantage with Shaune Almond doubling their advantage with a cool finish before Alex Wood-fine headed in the visitors’ third goal.
Although Webb clawed one back, it was too late as Oakley stayed top on goal difference from second-placed Mid-dleton Cheney and Eynsham.
Oakley Res went down to a 2-1 home defeat against Stonesfield Res to stay fourth in Division 2.
Dave Dartle and Lewis Stayte gave Stonesfield a 2-0 lead and although Dan Barrett cut the lead they were unable to find an equaliser.
