ROWING: Twyman shines at Boston

WHILE Oxford’s double Olympic gold medallist Andy Triggs Hodge, won the men’s pairs with Molesey’s Mohamed Sbihi, there were some excellent displays from other local competitors at the Winter GB International Trials in Boston, Lincolnshire.
Wallingford’s Kathryn Twyman came second in the women’s lightweight sculls, with clubmate Brianna Stubbs chasing hard in sixth.
Frances Houghton, from Wheatley, and Wallingford’s Katie Greves, secured respective fifth and seventh places in the women’s sculls.
Oxford Brookes University’s Matt Tarrant and Scott Durant finished fifth in the pairs, while past and present students, Richard and Peter Chambers, were first and fourth respectively in the lightweight men’s singles.
Rising youngster Olivia Carnegie-Brown, from Oxford, came tenth in the women’s sculls.
- CITY of Oxford’s women began the year with a flourish at the Bedford Eights and Fours Head, winning both the women’s intermediate 2 and 3 quad events.
