Hospice wins Oxford United poll to get shirty

SOBELL House have won a vote to have their logo on Oxford United’s shirts for the rest of the season.

The charity, which provides palliative and end of life care in Oxfordshire, came out on top in the poll, which saw more than 1,000 people taking part.

Prostate Cancer UK and the Oxfordshire Community Foundation were also in the running after Bridle Insurance decided to donate the final 15 games of their deal to a charity.

The hospice’s logo should appear on the U’s shirt for the first time tomorrow, for the trip to Plymouth Argyle.

Sobell House’s Kevin Game said: “To have made this link with the Yellows and the fans is a huge compliment for us and a fantastic opportunity for us to raise our profile.”

United chairman Ian Lenagan said: “Sobell House fit the bill perfectly as they are local and will have touched the lives of so many Oxford United fans at some stage.

“We will also continue to support both Prostate Cancer and the Oxfordshire Community Foundation who will feature in the matchday programme and have games nominated where we can showcase the fantastic work that they do.”
