FOOTBALL: Ardley's three-goal blitz sinks Binfield

Ardley United stretched their unbeaten run in the Premier Division to five matches with a 3-1 win at fellow-high fliers Binfield on Saturday.

It saw the second-placed side close the gap on Marlow to ten points.

Three goals in 20 minutes proved decisive for Kevin Brock’s outfit.

Ardley started the stronger, with Troy Bryan firing wide.

Three minutes into the second half, the visitors opened their account.

Winger Joe Eyre broke down the wing and Nick Thorne fired his cross past Dan Wealt in the Binfield goal.

Steve Howkins almost made it 2-0, but Wealt made a good save.

On 62 minutes, Ardley doubled their lead. Eyre combined with Stuart Bridges before smashing home.

It was all over on 59 minutes when Ardley made it 3-0.

Ollie Stanbridge’s pass allowed Howkins to place his shot wide of Wealt and into the net.

Binfield clawed a goal back through substitute James Suarez.

Late on, Joe White saved at the feet of Carl Davies as Ardley closed out for victory.

On Saturday, Ardley host Reading Town at Oxford Road.
