Fresh from her success at the World Karate Championships in Serbia, Emily Valentine, from Abingdon, has achieved another major title.

The ten-year-oldwon two golds in the British International Karate Open Championships at Crawley.

The St Nicolas School pupil won silver in the under 15 kata.

But she then captured gold in both the under 12 individual and team sparring events.

Valentine trains with Oxford Sport & Traditional Martial Arts Club, who look after for almost almost a third of the national squad. The club won a total of five gold, seven silver and eight bronze medals, with other individual golds going to Claire Maden, Joby Wilson and George Entwhistle.
