Oxford City Stars made it four English National League South Division 2 wins in a row after a thumping 12-0 victory at home to bottom club Lee Valley Lions.

Darren Elliott’s four-timer led the way, with Josh Oliver, Warren Jones and Alan Green hitting doubles, and a goal apiece from Nick Oliver and James Clarke completing their tally.

The win takes Stars back to third place, leaving them six points off top spot with four games in hand.

Elliott got Oxford off to a flying start, firing home a Green pass with just 31 seconds on the clock.

Oliver doubled the lead soon after, but although they were on top for the rest of the period, Oxford were unable to add to their lead.

Jones scored his first to make it 3-0, before Elliott scored twice in quick succession to complete his first hat-trick of the season and put Oxford five goals to the good.

The hosts then ran riot in the final period, scoring seven answered goals.

Five goals in less than seven minutes courtesy of Oliver (2), Clarke, Elliott and Jones put Stars into double figures.

And the rout was completed when Green scored twice inside a minute to make it 12-0 and send his side shooting up the table.

The previous day, Stars were on the end of an 18-1 hiding from Romford Raiders in their final South League Cup Group 2 clash.

Sam Broughton got the only Stars goal, who changed their line-up with no chance of success in the competition.

Their higher-league opponents proved too strong in all areas for Oxford, who finished their campaign with two wins from their eight matches.
