GOLF: It's captain Chapman

Mike Chapman drives in Mike Chapman drives in

Mike Chapman seems happy with his effort when driving in as the new men’s captain at Frilford Heath on Saturday – a sentiment shared by enthusiastic members who watched the ceremony.

The eight-handicapper’s drive was measured at 210 yards.

The 69-year-old former printing executive, from Wantage, whose wife, Carol, is also a member, has been at the club for 37 years.

A former Grove rugby player, he is pleased that Frilford will be hosting the English Amateur Championship during his year in office.

Chapman joined up with new lady captain Sue Russell in naming the Berks Oxon & Bucks Air Ambulance as his charity for the year.
