BADMINTON: Cook's champ after thriller

ALEX Cook pulled off a thilling victory to clinch the boys’ singles title at the Badminton England Under 15 Gold Tournament in York.
Cook, from Chinnor, came from behind to defeat New Zealand No 1 Ben Hillier 14-21, 21-13, 21-13 and win gold.
Oxfordshire’s Jack Bird and Ben Isaacs also struck gold at the Badminton England Under 17 Silver Tournament in Gillingham, Kent.
Bird (Thame) and Isaacs, of Tiddington, beat Wales’s William Painter and Wiltshire’s Andrew Jones 15-8, 15-12 in the boys’ doubles final.
This came after Bird had won a boys’ singles bronze medal.
