FOOTBALL: Headington hang on for draw

Headington Amateurs survived a second-half battering to take a point from a 1-1 draw in their Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 East game at Easington Sports.

Amateurs took the lead after ten minutes when Shaun Jacob’s through ball gave Luke Cuff enough space to strike a low shot past keeper Joe Haines. Carl Standen equalised after 19 minutes for Easington, whose Ben Milner missed a chance to win the game in the second half.

Carterton trounced Hook Norton 5-1 in Division 1 West thanks to goals from Jason Francis (2), Sam Farr, Jamie McDonagh and Mark Norridge.

Ben Tew replied for Hook Norton.

Struggling Letcombe were beaten 4-0 at home by Fairford Town.

Bradley Gill scored his first goal for Fairford since his recent transfer from Shrivenham and further goals came from Dan Bailey (2), and Henry Traas.
