Caitlin Wheatley was the star of the small screen, winning ten gold medals in Abingdon Vale’s winter open meet at Temple Cowley, Oxford.

The 15-year-old also won a silver in front of the cameras.

Two days of racing were broadcast by local company M & Y Media, who rigged the arena with three cameras and eight computers.

They also had a 42-inch monitor to mix all the video feeds and pre-roll graphics with full race commentary, results boards and interviews.

By the end of the two days, 80,000 viewing minutes had been watched by people from all over the country – much more than they expected.

City of Oxford came away with a grand total of 98 medals, Helena Beel leading the way with five golds.

The 12-year-old won the 100m freestyle (1min 7.87secs), 100m breaststroke (1.24.48), 200m breaststroke (2.59.16), 50m butterfly (34.10) and the 100m individual medley (1:15.94).

There were also some notable swims from younger members.

Cathryn Peake, Ed Sharp, Theo Cooke, Alex Lawrence and Natasha Fenton were among those to shine.

Ellia Black was the star for Wantage White Horses, with four golds plus a club record in the 100m individual medley.
