Didcot Devils Basketball Club are celebrating receiving a Clubmark award with a funding boost of £500, having secured 50 junior members since launching in 2009.

“Clubmark is a quality accreditation for junior sports clubs,” explained club treasurer Heather Coombs.

“Applying for it helped us put the right procedures in place, like training a welfare officer and preparing a development plan that will see us grow to 100 members in the next three years.”

Didcot have strong community ties and run a primary school league for pupils in years five and six, who attend after-school clubs at Northbourne, Hagbourne, All-Saints, Ladygrove Park, Chilton and Stephen Freeman schools.

The club are hoping to broaden their appeal by launching a girls section for over 14s.
