White Horse Harrier Paul Jegou came 24th in his 100th Oxford Mail Cross Country League race
OXFORD MAIL CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE AND OXON CHAMPIONSHIPS
WITH Frances Briscoe leading the way, White Horse Harriers enjoyed a successful day’s racing at Horspath.
Sam Marshall took the under 20 men’s county title, recording 33.36 for 20th place overall.
Clubmate Jonnie Cornish was the first under 20 home in the league race 33.09, but was ineligible for that category in the county event as he turns 20 this year.
White Horse’s Ben Claridge took the under 15 county title, completing his 5km course in 23.16.
Christian Von Eitzen, from Abingdon, was the Oxon under 17 boys’ champion, the Vale of Aylesbury athlete powering home in 20.29.
Oxford City’s Beth Hawtin took the county under 17 girls’ honour, completing their 4km course in 18.51.
City clubmate Megan Hump-hreys claimed the Oxon under 15 girls’ title in a time of 17.37.
Will Crisp (Swindon Harriers) took the under 13 boys’ honours with a time of 11.36 for a 3km course.
Banbury Harriers Tia Williams clocked 13.12 for under 13 girls’ victory.
Ben Rodriguez (Oxford City) recorded 8.32 to edge out Abingdon Ambler Alex Pennington (8.36) in a tight under 11 boys’ event over 2km.
The girls’ race saw City’s Alex Scrivener storm home by 24 seconds in 9.18.
Men’s team gold medals went to White Horse Harriers (under 20), Magdalen College School (under 15) and Abingdon Amblers (under 13).
For the ladies, Oxford City took the under 20 and under 15 prizes, with Banbury the under 13 winners.
