Didcot Town’s impressive run in cup competitions continued on Tuesday night with a deserved 3-2 win at Shortwood United in the third round of the Evo-Stik Southern League’s Red Insure Cup.

Elliott Osborne-Ricketts, Chris Williams and a late Jack Rutter own goal proved the difference for Didcot, who had new signing Luke Carnell sent off for a professional foul.

Tim Haddock and Joe Tustain netted for Shortwood.

North Leigh bowed out as Cinderford Town’s Dale Evans hit all four in his side’s 4-2 win at Eynsham Park.

Evans struck on seven minutes, but John Mills soon levelled from ten yards.

Evans’s second gave the visitors the lead at the break.

North Leigh came out with all guns blazing for the seconnd half and won a penalty when Mills was brought down, but the same player saw his spot-kick saved by Alex Harris.

Evans made it 3-1 with the goal of the game – a 25-yard blockbuster that gave keeper Sam Warrell no chance.

A close-range effort from Michael Hopkins gave the home side hope, but it was fitting that Evans should have the last word with Cinderford’s fourth.
