IT was a struggle for the 21 anglers who fished North Oxford’s Open on the Oxford Canal at Kidlington, with only 11 of them weighing in.

Jamie Barrett managed to find a decent skimmer and a perch for a winning 1lb 13.8oz.

Dave Pether had three perch and a small chub for second with 1.8.0, while Jason Bean and Lol Budd tied for third with 0.10.0.

Because of the Cherwell was flooded, Marston AC FTB fished their Christmas Match on the Oxford Canal at Wolvercote Green.

Steve Foster drew an end peg and made the most of it by topping the 13-strong field with 4.14.0 of perch and roach on pole and red maggot. One of his perch was more than 2lb.

Pete Clarke was just behind 4.8.0, again made up of perch and roach on the same tactics, and Steve Tompkins was third with 3.15.0.
