Charlie Longsdon will seek to find an opportunity for Pete The Feat to continue his winning streak in around a month’s time after his charge completed a fantastic five-timer at Newbury on Saturday.

The gelding, who turned nine on New Year’s Day, posted his most significant success to date with a pillar-to-post win in the Betfred Mandarin Handicap Chase.

Noel Fehily’s mount was scoring off a handicap mark 31lbs higher than his first success this season.

“He has been a revelation,” said Longsdon after greeting his prolific winner. “He has been an absolute star. I have never had a horse that has won five in a row.

“He just gallops and gallops them into the ground.

“I never thought he would get this far, so this was a bonus. He has won five and now we will have to look for another bonus. “I might try to find a regional national he could win.”

And he added: “Racing is going to get a lot tougher now, and I will see what there is in about a month.”
