OXFORD High Year 8 and Our Lady’s Abingdon Year 10 saw their impressive runs in the AEGON Schools Tennis tournament end at the last 16 stage.
Both girls schools won seven matches to reach the regional finals, Our Lady’s qualifying for a second successive year.
Oxford High’s team of Raia Jagger, Amelia Efthimiou, Elisha Gujral and Zara Khan were level at 3-3 against Millfield School, Somerset after four singles and two doubles.
But Jagger and Amelia Efthimiou lost a tie-break shootout 11-9 to decide the match.
Our Lady’s squad of Saffy Gujral, Maria Karditsas, Taysie Gujral, Jess Lythgoe and Natasha Canter battled hard, but went down 6-0 to Red Maids of Bristol.
