Didcot Town boss Gary Elkins backed Lee Henderson to make a full recovery from a double leg fracture.

The injury happened when the centre back , 21, tackled Sam Morris in Tuesday’s 2-1 home defeat by Swindon Supermarine.

And it brought back memories for former defender Elkins who suffered a similar injury while playing for Fulham at Oxford United in 1985.

“We had been playing seven minutes and I went in for a challenge,” said Elkins.

“I broke my tibia and fibula and had to have a plate inserted and was out for 18 months.

“I was 19 at the time of my double fracture.

“I had just got into the first team and thought that was it.

“But I went on to play 16 more years as a professional.

“The good news is Lee won’t need an operation because it was on the lower leg.

“It will be in plaster for three weeks before it is re-assessed.

“I don’t know the time-scale, but he’s going to be out for months. “I have no doubt Lee can go on to play at a higher level. “

Didcot will also be without Brian Bowles (groin) and Ian Concannon (hamstring) for tomorrow’s Division 1 South & West trip to CinderfordTown.

Defender Jamie Heapy is a doubt with a groin injury.

North Leigh will be without Josh Dutton-Black (knee) and Lewis Coyle (banned) when they host Paulton Rovers.

John Else (shoulder) is a doubt, though Keiran Sanders is back as they look to end a run of three defeats in a row.

Abingdon United are set to give defender Paul Taplin his debut away to Bishop’s Cleeve after signing him from Thatcham Town.

Banbury United boss Ed-win Stein has urged his side’s defence to tighten-up, starting with their Premier Division trip to Hitchin Town.

It followed Tuesday’s 3-2 loss at Gosport Borough.

He said: “Going 2-1 up with 15 minutes to go, you expect to see it through, but we switched off.”

Jack Ashton, Warren Plow-right and Marvin Martin return after bansm, though Kynan Isaac misses out as he is on a week’s trial at Championship side Brighton.
