HOCKEY: Birtles slams double (From Bicester Advertiser)

Bicester men got back to winning ways in MBB&O Division 1 with a 3-0 win against Oxford 3rd.

The hosts took the lead when CJ Birtles slotted home following a penalty corner.

After the break, the hosts made it 2-0 from another penalty corner, Stuart Moore scoring his first goal for Bicester.

Birtles completed his double from their third penalty corner.

Oxford tried to get back in the game, but Bicester’s defence held firm for their first clean sheet of the season.

Bicester ladies crashed 5-3 at Wycombe 2nd in Try-sports Three Counties League Premier 1.

Lilla Venning put Bicester ahead and although Wycombe took a 2-1 lead, Amy Ola set up Ella Weston to level.

Wycombe then charged ahead 5-2, before Kath Crook got one back for Bicester.

Skipper Amy Jackson sco-red the equaliser as Bicester 3rd drew 1-1 at home to Aylesbury 4th in Division 5.Aylesbury scored early on.

Ashley Foote was Bicester’s best player for her excellent display in defence.
