Oxford United's 6-3 win over Eastbourne Borough was only the fourth time in the last 40 years that they have scored six times in a league match.

The others were 6-3 v Walsall in 1983-4, 6-0 v Shrewsbury in 1995-6 and 6-1 v Halifax in 2001-2.

United's biggest win in the Football League was 7-0 v Barrow in 1964, while their biggest win since turning professional in 1949 was 9-0 v Wisbech Town in 1960.

Saturday also featured the most goals scored in a league game since Oxford United's 5-5 draw with Portsmouth at the Manor Ground in 1992.

Team GB, Beijing says...

Sorry to point out the obvious but this article has ignored one major fact, Oxford aren't in the league, therefore this can't count surely?

This was a non-league fixture, meaning OUFC have only hit 6 goals in one LEAGUE match on 3 occasions.

And I thought the Oxford Mail's sister paper was bad.
