Oxford Utd 2, Exeter City 2 (4/9)
Richard Logan hammers home Exeter's late, late equaliser
Richard Logan hammers home Exeter's late, late equaliser

Oxford United had victory snatched from their grasp when substitute Richard Logan scored five minutes into stoppage time at the Kassam Stadium last night - to the fury of home fans.

That was because the fourth official had signalled there should be four minutes of added time, and this had already passed with no further injuries and the U's desperately hanging onto the lead.

But in the 96th minute, Rob Edwards pumped a long free-kick forwards, and Logan, left in space on the left of the box, turned and hammered a shot high past substitute keeper Chris Tardif.

It was Logan's second goal of the game - and he had only come of with 16 minutes to go and pulled one back four minutes later.

Until he arrived, it looked as though Jim Smith's men were about to gain their spot-kick revenge over Exeter.

Rob Duffy seemed to have erased the painful memory of the U's play-off exit in May with two perfect conversions, one in each half.

A key moment in the game came nine minutes into the second half when Turley saved Basham's volley 15 yeards from goal and seemed to jar the top of his calf as he landed.

He was replaced by Tardif, making a rare appearance, and United also brought on Yemi Odubade to match up their opponents 3-4-3 system.

Those who weren't at the game may think this was another case of Oxford only winning because of Duffy's prowess at penalties, but the goals were reward for some enterprising attacking play in an entertaining Blue Square Premier game.

Oxford: Billy Turley (Tardif, 56), Mickey Corcoran, Barry Quinn, Matt Day, Eddie Anaclet, Michael Standing (Odubade, 56), Phil Trainer, Dannny Rose, Alex Jeannin, Rob Duffy (Robinson, 82), Paul Shaw

Exeter: Marriott, Taylor, Richardson (Artus 89), Edwards, Tully, Gill, Cozic (Elam, 67), Moxey , Stansfield, Basham (Logan, 74), Mackie
