A 25-year-old man arrested in Italy has been charged with murdering a crane driver whose body was found in his burnt-out car in Britain.

Arben Lleshi, of Onslow Road, Southampton, was detained in the capital Rome on May 11 in connection with the death of 29-year-old Agim Hoxha.

Mr Hoxha's body was discovered in his Mercedes in Chilworth on the outskirts of Southampton on April 10, prompting a murder inquiry by Hampshire's major investigation team code-named Operation Wedgewood.

Police said Lleshi was escorted back to the UK on Wednesday accompanied by British officers and will appear at Southampton Magistrates' Court.

Last month Lleshi's brother Afrin Lleshi, 36, of Shirley Road, Southampton, was remanded in custody by magistrates charged with perverting the course of justice. He will appear at Southampton Crown Court in June.
