Tesco expansion decision delayed

A decision on the expansion of a Bicester superstore has been postponed.

The application for development of Tesco's Pingle Drive outlet, which had been recommended for refusal, was due to be heard by Cherwell District Council's planning committee last night, but the item was deferred at the retailer's request.

The next planning meeting is on August 7, but it is not clear when the application will be heard.

Once more I cannot believe that the expansion of Tesco's Pingle drive store has been recommended for refusal! How can Bicester Village continually be allowed to grow massively since its inception and yet Tesco that is on the same estate is continuously denied!? Traffic arguments against Tesco's are rubbish - more vehicles use Bicester Village than Tesco's - sheer hypocrisy. I and others drive to Aylesbury and back every week to the bigger Tesco's there as the store in Pingle Drive just cannot stock all my families needs. Think of the time, cost and pollution caused due to that travelling - I would not have to do that if Tesco's in Pingle Drive were able to offer a proper alternative to Aylesbuy. Wake up CDC! Stop being hypocritical and be fair and realistic to YOUR voters and residents.

Tesco has been refused now
I work in the metro store and it seams tesco has known that would happen for some time with our store opening until 10pm in the next few weeks.
and with the new checkouts, I say tesco was expecting it to be refused.
