A WOMAN fought off a teenage robber during an attack carried out in broad daylight.

The 50-year-old was walking on Woodgreen Avenue near the junction of Penrose Drive in Banbury when the attacker approached her and tried to grab her handbag.

A boy, who is of mixed race, was wearing a dark T-shirt and black tracksuit bottoms with a white stripe down the side when the attack took place at about 4pm last Wednesday.

Detective Constable Natasha Long, who is based at Banbury Police Station, said: "Although the offender did not succeed in stealing any property from the victim, this was an unprovoked incident that has left the victim shaken.

"I would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the incident or who may have seen a male, matching the description, hanging around the area around the time of incident.
