SCHOOL pupils from across Bicester raised the roof at St Edburg’s Church to raise money for children’s charities.

More than 300 children from 12 schools in and around the town and surrounding villages have taken part in the Festival of Singing at the church, in Church Street.

The event, now in its seventh year, is organised by Bicester Rotary Club and has seen three concerts over the past fortnight.

Organiser Jolanta Lis said: “The purpose of it is to make children aware of other children in need.

“Through their concerts they raised money for children’s charities. It has been growing year on year. It has been very popular. We filled up St Edburg’s.”

Charities to benefit this year are Auditory Verbal, based in Chesterton, the Child Brain Injury Trust and a special needs school in Zambia, which is linked to Bicester’s Bardwell special school.

Last year’s event raised about £3,000.
