TWO couples from Bicester walked for 25 hours straight to raise money for two causes close to their hearts.
Sarah and Matt Jaycock took on the 100km Thames Path Challenge, from Putney Bridge to Henley, with their friends Gary and Vicky Hodgins.
They set off on September 12 and arrived 25 hours later, having only stopped for short food breaks.
Mr and Mrs Jaycock were using the walk to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Mr and Mrs Hodgins were raising money for a less well-known cause, Count the Kicks.
The project aims to inform more women what to look out for in pregnancy, such as what amount of kicking is normal, and the Bicester couple benefitted from that advice last year.
Mrs Hodgins, 32, a mother-of-three, explained: “We had a little boy in November who was born three months early. Each baby has its own pattern of movements, and if they reduce or increase, what we learnt is that it is important to seek medical advice as soon as possible. Because of the advice we received from Count the Kicks, our baby Joel was born safely.”
The couples have now raised more than £3,000. You can sponsor them online at justgiving.com/sarjaycock and justgiving.com/Victoria-Hodgins.
