A FLOOD risk strategy was approved by councillors yesterday following an earlier consultation.

Oxfordshire County Council’s cabinet agreed to adopt the Local Flood Risk Management Strategy at a meeting at County Hall.

Councillors discussed a report by director for environment and economy Sue Scane into the council’s draft strategy, which was given first approval in May.

The report said consultation on the draft strategy took place between June 27 and September 19, with 29 feedback responses submitted online.

People were asked for their views on the current plan in place to react to flooding and what more could be done to respond.

It said: “It is considered that there are no substantive changes required to the main strategy document.”

Councillors also agreed to consider £20m worth of cuts, which were unveiled by the council last week, during a full council meeting in February next year.

Last year Oxfordshire County Council announced £64m of cuts over the next four years and one year on, another £20m has been announced.

Adult social care services, as well as services for children and families, could be affected.
