The death of a man in his sixties has been referred to the police watchdog.

Thames Valley Police went to a house yesterday morning to carry out a warrant in the Highfield area of Bicester.

A police statement said before officers entered the property, they became concerned for the man's welfare.

He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital by ambulance and subsequently died yesterday.

The incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).

The police refused to say what the warrant was for.

Thames Valley Police did not release any more details and said due to the referral to the IPCC, it would be "inappropriate to comment further at this stage".
