A BUDDING film director is hoping to set up his own business to follow in his aunt Vicky Jewson's footsteps.

Frederick Jewson, 20, who lives close Upper Heyford near Bicester, is looking to crack the local film industry nearly a decade that his aunt got her first big break.

Oxford director Ms Jewson got her start at just 21 years old with a directional debut of romantic comedy Lady Godiva in 2008 before later writing, financing and directing Born of War.

Having inherited the family bug of film production, Mr Jewson hopes he wont be far behind her as he starts out setting up his own advertising business.

He said: "Ever since I was a child, much like my aunty, I was always picking up a camera.

"I remember getting my first camcorder and ever since it just spiralled from there.

"Our family is very business orientated and gratefully I have inherited that business side as well as the production side from my aunty.

"I just really wanted to go off and do it myself."

The former Cokethorpe School student has spent the last three years working at Oxford's Studio8 Photographer and Video Production Company.

But after enjoying learning all the skills, Mr Jewson is looking to take the plunge and go it alone by setting up a business creating short advertising films for small and local business.

He said: "I enjoy doing the creative short films for promotion, it is something I am very keen on.

"I am trying to do video advertising for small and local businesses which are looking to grow over the next 10 years.

"I am very excited as it is something I love doing and as the saying goes if you find a job you love doing, you don’t work a day in your life.

"I have done a few shoots so far and my confidence is growing, I just hope to get out there more now and impress people."

Mr Jewson hopes to start locally by providing video production for corporate use, promotional advertising and music videos.

He intends to spread his skills regionally and nationally with a view to moving the big film industry like his auntie in the future.

He said: "It is a hard step going out on your own and trying to get clients, plus funding it myself entirely.

"It has been a challenge and I think my main challenge go forward will be my shyness in speaking to new people."

"Although I do have my own style, separate from Vicky, I definitely have been inspired by her work.

"She is very, very good with production and seeing all the hard work she does is something that has inspired me the most.

"She has also helped boost my confidence and always helped me out.

"This is my life goal and I am extremely determined."
