BRINGING a little ray of light to many people lives were the visitors to The Hummingbird Cancer Centre yesterday as they crafted lanterns.

Guests to the Bicester cancer support and therapy centre were treated to a calming craft session creating fairy lanterns.

The centre, based in Launton, hosts a variety of activities to give a range of opportunities to its visitors who are affected by cancer either themselves or through family members.

One new visitor who was diagnosed with lung cancer last week, Michael Naylor, said: "It is only my second day at the centre and I am definitely going to be coming more often.

"Everyone is so nice and welcoming, I already feel like part of the family.

"I was just at home dwelling on it as I am so used to work work work but obviously now I can't, so I thought I would just come along to The Hummingbird Centre and see what it was like."

The Upper Heyford resident added: "I love it - we have been making the fairy lanterns using little tea lights and decorating them which was nice.

"Then the day before they were making heart plaques which were really lovely.

"It is just great to be able to come here and get away from hospital and take your mind off it all."

The Hummingbird Cancer Support and Therapy Centre is in Station Road and open from 10am to 4pm Tuesday to Friday.
