A PARADE depicting royalty through the ages will get this year's Bicester Carnival rolling on Saturday.

This year's carnival will take on the royal theme in honour of Her Majesty's 90th birthday and for the 6th year running is being held in association with Armed Forces Day.

The day's schedule will be jam-packed with processions, parades and games, plus displays from the Ministry of Defence.

The royal-themed procession will set off at noon from Bicester Leisure Centre in Queens Avenue.

It will make its way through Market Square and up to Pingle Field where Bicester Town Mayor Jolanta Lis will officially open the event at 1pm.

Alongside the parade will be a host of stall holders including charities such as Help for Heroes and The Hummingbird Cancer Support and Therapy Centre.

Local organisations are also getting involved including Jack and Jill Pre-school and Bubbles Pre-school.

Bicester Town Council has also hired a bucking bronco for visitors to get stuck into plus a climbing wall and zorbing.

A few friendly animals will also be on hand for a close-up encounter with the petting farm.

Once again the Ministry of Defence will be putting on displays throughout the day which runs from noon to 5pm.

This will include a gun run event from troops at 2pm in the arena.

Elsewhere will be music on the main stage set up by Bicester Radio and a fancy dress competition hosted by town mayor Jolanta Lis.

All visitors including those both in and outside of the procession are asked to get stuck in to the royalty through the ages theme and the best three fancy dress costumes will win a prize.
