HERE'S a yarn to string you along with: townsfolk in Faringdon have swapped pitch forks for patterns to crochet an entire garden.

Armed with knitting needles and thread, residents of all ages are creating woolly wisteria, fluffy fritillaries and darned daffodils.

The floral fabric fantasia will be unveiled as part of the town's annual Folly Fest, from Friday, July 29, to Sunday the 31st, and sold off.

The money raised will help fund activities at the town's Pump House community hub.

Rowan Twine, who is helping co-ordinate the scheme, said: "The project is a collaborative community project creating crochet flowers for a display that will be sold during the Faringdon Folly Fest.

"The flowers are all being created by local members of the community, including children from the local schools.

"The idea was to include the whole community regardless of age or gender or financial boundaries.

"Everyone is welcome to be involved and there are a range of roles to do besides crocheting flowers."

Flower-making sessions are being held every Wednesday morning from 9.30am to 11.30am at the Pump House in Swan Lane until the end of July.

There will also be Sunday afternoon sessions on June 5 and 19.
