A 24-year-old food blogger will battle it out in the final round the MasterChef semi-finals after impressing judges in last night's episode.

Up against the final seven contestant, Sarah McCready successfully made it through the scraps challenge, which saw contestants given food scraps including a pigs ear and potato peelings to conjure up culinary delights.

She made Paella balls with leftover rice and bone marrow, served with braised beef, griddled squash and aubergine and a gazpacho dressing (cold soup made from raw vegetables).

The remaining contestants then faced the "supertasters" with expert palates and were split into two teams to cook up a six-course menu.

Miss McCready will now go on to fight for a place in the MasterChef finals in tomorrow's episode where contestants will come up against three restaurant critics.

See if she makes it through to the finals at 8.30pm on BBC One.
