The number of people on the dole in Oxfordshire has fallen again.

It was 3,057 in September, down from 3,305 in August, new figures from the Office for National Statistics revealed.

The biggest drop of those claiming Job Seekers’ Allowance month-on-month was in Cherwell district, which saw its claimant count fall by 77 - from 581 in September from 658 in August.

These latest monthly figures continue a steady downward trend, which has seen the number of people on the dole across the county halved in the past year.
