Tributes to fallen soldier

THE soldier killed in Afghanistan on Sunday was last night named as Sergeant Lee Paul Davidson from Doncaster.

The serviceman, 32, from the Light Dragoons, was killed when his vehicle was struck by an explosive device in Helmand province.

Lieutenant Colonel Richard Parry, spokesman for UK Forces Afghanistan, said: “The thoughts and prayers of everyone serving in Task Force Helmand are extended to his family and friends at this extremely difficult time.”

The soldier’s family have been informed. A date for the repatriation at RAF Brize Norton has not yet been set.
