The repatriation of two servicemen killed in Afghanistan has been put back four days.

The bodies of Lieutenant Andrew Chesterman of 3rd Battalion, The Rifles and Lance Corporal Matthew Smith of 26 Engineer Regiment will be brought back to the UK on Tuesday.

Originally it had been expected that the repatriation would take place tomorrow but a spokesman at the Ministry of Defence this morning confirmed the delay.

It is expected that the plane will land at around 1.30pm with the cortege passing through Carterton’s memorial garden at around 4pm.
