SHOW jumping, a dog display, and arts and crafts were enjoyed by thousands of people at the 53rd annual Bicester and Finmere Show.

The show began life in 1960 when it was set up by friends and local businessmen to raise money for 17-year-old Sally Haynes who had been paralysed in a point-to-point fall.

Over the past five decades the show, which this year took place on Sunday, has raised more than £580,000 for spinal research and spinal injury charities.

Five-year-old Alice Chanter, above, from Ford in Buckinghamshire, said: “I had a nice day at the show. I had lunch and I watched the show jumping and I went on some of the rides.”
