COMMENT: Time to unite

How strange the county and city councils should come up with conflicting education strategies at the same time. How can that be in the interest of our young people? It would be of huge benefit for all children and teachers in the county to be working on one clearly-defined strategy and methodology. Anything else is surely divisive.

We want all our young people to be able to read and have a lifelong love of books.

Perhaps just one Unitary authority for the whole of Oxfordshire would be better?

Conflict costs money, as does premium office space in the heart of a city that has a problem with congestion.

I agree with Andrew, a unitary authority would save lots of money, then they can stop cutting the libraries and concentrate on improving literacy by getting kids reading for pleasure. Its embarrassing watching the parties squabble and waste money over their failures.
