YOUNG actors and directors had their own ‘Oscars’ to mark their talent at a film festival.

Almost 700 primary school children took part in the Bicester Children’s Film Festival, writing, acting in, directing and editing a total of 50 shorts.

Last month, about 200 children, aged four to 11, had a gala award ceremony at Cooper School, off Churchill Road. The overall winner was Longfields School, whose years one and two pupils made a movie called Strange Things and its year five and six pupils won best drama award in their age group for a silent film called Three Angry Men.

Longfields head teacher Paul Hill, below, said: “Seeing the look on the winning pupils’ faces was wonderful.

“The film festival is a great addition to the Bicester School’s Partnership.”
