STAFF at Cotswold Wildlife Park have been surprised by the birth of a foal from one of the park’s oldest zebras.

The foal, which has not yet been named, was born earlier this month to Sarah who is 12-years-old.

Jamie Craig, the park’s curator, said: “We are always delighted with any birth at the park but to arrive at work to the sight of a newborn foal gambolling around the zebra and rhino paddock was especially satisfying.

“Watching the youngster settling in with the herd and familiarising itself with the rhino under the watchful eye of its mother was a real treat for the visitors on the day.”

Zebra foals are born with a coat which is striped red and brown which later darkens to black. This is the 45th zebra birth at Cotswold Wildlife Park ever.
