A SMOULDERING heap of rubble went up in flames after a small bonfire spread in Souldern, near Bicester.

Firefighters were forced to rush to the farm site on Sunday when the fire took hold.

The farmer on site worked with the crews from Bicester to keep the fire under control from about 3.45pm.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue posted online that the blaze spread from a small bonfire which included tyres and building debris.

It added that the crews put out the flames by smothering the fire and working to find the main source to put out with a hose.
