DESPITE the return of frost and freezing temperatures to extinguish any early signs of spring, our optimistic theme for this week’s camera club was ‘green shoots’.
Intrepid photographers responded with a plethora of stalks, grass, moss and flowers, taking a very open approach to the theme.
Some even had the audacity to submit their pictures of lichen which, as lengthy discussions proved, is neither green nor has any shoots.
A lack of our favourite colour was not an issue for this week’s photo of the week – Alex Wellar’s picturesque shot of pretty flowers against a blurred background of purest green.
The intricate details of the flower petals and leaves are captured in minute detail, illuminated by a ray of sunlight.
It’s a worthy winner and just goes to show that you can do well by playing by the rules.
