KEA’S reign as Oxon FA John Fathers Junior Shield champions came to an end with a 3-2 defeat away to Eynsham SSC in a rearranged third-round tie.
After KEA’s Liam Godin had hit the bar, Andy Stratford put the hosts ahead with a close-range goal.
Within minutes, KEA equalised with a majestic strike from Vinny Byfield.
Ten minutes before half-time, they took the lead through Dan Hobbs’s free-kick, awarded for a foul on Godin.
Stratford hit his second in the seventh minute of first-half injury time.
In a quiet second half, the game appeared to be heading for extra time when Stratford, who was lucky not to be sent off for a foul on Byfield, completed his hat-trick in the 89th minute to end KEA’s hopes of retaining the title.
l Bicester Town’s match at home to Wallingford Town in Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 East was postponed due to a frozen pitch.
This Saturday, they are away to AFC Aldermaston, while Ardley United entertain Bracknell Town in the Bluefin Sports Challenge Cup.
