More than 100 new CCTV cameras will be installed at stations across the Chiltern Railways network to protect passengers from crime.
A £400,000 investment will see 136 new cameras installed - taking the total over 800 across the network.
It will also include a full upgrade to the system to help detect and deter crime at train stations such as Oxford Parkway, Banbury, Islip and Bicester Village.
It is hoped the new system will make the rail operator "more proactive" when it comes to monitoring its network - which as of December this year will include Oxford station.
It could also lead to more evidence being provide against people who commit crime on the railways.
Customer services director Jenny Payne said: "Ensuring our passengers and staff are safe is key as we strive to deliver a first-class railway.
"This investment ensures that stations on our route benefit from the latest surveillance technology."
