A PRAM race will kick off the celebrations for the Queen's 90th birthday in East Hendred on Sunday, June 12.

Competitors are invited to meet at Mill Lane recreation ground to join the wacky race shortly after 1.30pm.

There will then be a procession at 2pm from the sports ground to Dancing Hill for music, fun and other family entertainments for the rest of the afternoon.

Anyone joining the street party is invited to dress for the red, white and blue theme.

The party will also include a "Best of British" fancy dress competition, a photo booth, and also the results of this year's village scarecrow trail competition.

Revellers are invited to bring their own food, drink, chairs and picnic blankets.

Organiser Sylvia Cox urged people to save the date and bring a friend to the party.

More information about the party and the scarecrow competition will be available from Hendred Stores in the run-up to the big day.

East Hendred's is one of dozens of parties in towns and villages across Oxfordshire to mark Queen Elizabeth's birthday over the second weekend in June.

Wantage Town Council is organising a two-day party over the weekend at the town's Manor Road Recreation Ground on the Saturday and Market Place on Sunday.
