ALMOST two weeks after they set out from John O'Groats, a team of Oxfordshire firefighters arrived in Land's End yesterday.
The 18-strong group cycled the length of Great Britain to raise money for The Fire Fighter's Charity, clocking up 1,006 miles along the way.
After their departure from the northern tip of Scotland on May 13, they made their way south, sleeping on the floors of fire stations along the way.
Yesterday they made it to the most southerly point of the island, a day after Chief Fire Office Dave Etheridge celebrated his 50th birthday.
Deputy Chief Fire Officer Simon Furlong told staff at Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue service he was delighted with the group's achievement.
He said: "I am sure you will join me in congratulating them for completing this incredible journey of 1,006 miles and raising a staggering amount of money for The Fire Fighters Charity.
"May I take this opportunity to also thank the support crew members for their astounding efforts throughout the ride."
The group is aiming to raise £100,000 for the charity.
